I collected my passport yesterday after waiting at the embassy for more than an hour and a half. The vice-consul forgot all about me and my visa and forgot about the collection day. The person in charge was not at the embassy and I had to wait for him to arrive. Finally he came and did it. I was an hour late for the workers who are working on my bathroom. They are installing a whole new bathroom for me. I went to the embassy during their lunch hour and thought I would be back 12:30.  Instead I was back 1:30. They were mad at me because I was late and they thought they would not have enough time to finish what they were supposed to do before their shift is over. This would put them one day behind schedule.  Another achievement is that I bought the ticket today. I had to change airlines yesterday unexpectedly. We have no direct flight to Ukraine, so I had to fly to Dubai and then take Ukraine Air from there to Kiev. My travel agent could not issue me a ticket on Ukraine Air as they have no agent nor office in Riyadh, could not issue it through Saudia nor Emirates airlines, could not get their number in Dubai to have them send it by DHL. So he asked me to buy the ticket at Dubai Airport. Since my arrival time there is 11:30 p.m. I thought that would be risky. So after walking home half-way, I went back and asked him to change airlines and route. So he booked me on Turkish airlines to Istanbul and then to Kiev. The problem with Turkish airlines is that it leaves Monday January 20, at 4 a.m. I am a single lady and it is difficult for me to find a taxi 2 a.m. to go to the airport. So I am going to the airport 12:30 and have to wait there for 3:30 hours (on the way back I have a 7-hour lay off at Istanbul Airport). I will arrive in Kiev Monday, January 20 at 10:30 a.m. and need to go to the hotel to sleep. I will stay overnight in Kiev and will take the train to Vinnytsia on Tuesday, Jan 21. I do not know what time I will arrive in Vinnytsia yet because I could not get the train schedule from Kiev to Vinnytsia. I will try to book Express Hotel which is close to the train station. KBP airport is about 70 Km from the city. I will take the hotel address with me and try to take a taxi in case I cannot contact you and give you my arrival time.  Not to mention other struggles with my glasses, restoring my sofas, my messy apartment as a result of the maintenance work and a lot more. Well, I hope we have a great conference after all. I am sure it will be a new experience and another adventure to talk about.
