Late wake up call. After breakfast, we left hotel at 9 for the Meteora Region with Black mountains. Beautiful rock formations. Visited 3 monasteries built on top of the mountains. Lift things up in a basket pulled with a rope. Drove along windy road on the slope of the mountain. Green slopes all around. Mountains sticking out their black heads. Very steep step up to the monasteries. Small chapel walls covered with fresco drawings, Small souvenir shops selling Christian souvenirs. At entrance, souvenir sellers displayed their merchandise on the ground and in small kiosks. They call on you to buy. Cool fresh air up there. Visited monasteries from 9-12. Our lunch stop was at Kastraki, a village with narrow streets, red-roofed houses, flower baskets in balconies, houses close to each other, open-air cafes, crowded with people at lunch time. Fruit sellers sell peaches and other fruits on the sidewalk. Had peaches for lunch. Lunch break was from 12-1.

Drove through Lamia, same road like yesterday down to Delphi. Same fruit, vegetable, golden wheat, cotton, olive farms as far as you could see. Green hills all around in the distance. Gypsy area. Very small brick houses in the valley. Hot area in the summer. It was cool and refreshing. Had dinner at Epicurus Restaurant. Had Goat in the oven for dinner. From the restaurant balcony, we could see the green mountains ahead and millions of olive trees in the valley and few boats in the sea. At nine I walked along the main street looking at the souvenir shops that close late at night.
